3d Models
These handmade models were created in one of the first classes interior design students take at HCC, INDS 1301 Basic Elements of Design. Skills such as critical thinking, neatness, handwork, refinement and critique are developed. These models allow us to seek inspiration from the world around us and teach us to not limit ourselves or what our work can look like. While these models are completed and developed individually, we take constructive commentary from our classmates to improve our work and pay attention to details we may not have noticed otherwise. This is one of the first times during our program that we take direct, in-person critique from other people so it allows us to be receptive to that, work with others and ask for help!
Form is an exercise to get us thinking about what’s within. “Simple” things can be very complex inside. Included are 2D elevation views.

XYZ
XYZ gets us thinking about how to incorporate all 3 planes in a 3D design.
A bug’s life
With A Bug’s Life I sought inspiration for a building/canopy-style structure from the body of a bug. I researched a few kinds of bugs and focused on the details in their wings, shape and symmetry. Below I included process work on the different versions I thought of. When we are designing, we can be very literal or very abstract and I believe I was able to do a bit of both.
