Garcia-Smith Residence
This project is an Aging in Place home and was designed in HCC’s INDS 2313 Residential Design class in totality by me. We were given unique client profiles at random and had to design a home for an middle-aged couples with different professions, ethnic backgrounds, needs and wants. This home was developed and rendered using paper, markers, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Enscape.

I presented this project at HCC’s annual Reveal Portfolio show for graduating and transferring HCC Interior Design students in May 2024. This is an opportunity for students to network with other peers as well as industry professionals and potentially get internships, jobs, and other opportunities. It is a fun opportunity for students to mingle, celebrate their work, and be celebrated by professors, family and friends.
My boards focused on presenting the most important spaces in the home, rather than spending time on the bedrooms or other typical rooms. My clients were middle-aged professionals with no medical conditions or chronic illnesses, but the floor plan is still designed with ADA guidelines in mind in terms of hallway widths and clearances to accommodate potential needs.
